!! routine !!

How significant is routine in our lives??....A lot actually!

Let us take it this way....we all have that particular T-SHIRT which has almost lost all of its fabric and colour but is still absolutely adorable. Isn’t it that all of us have have a pair of old rugged pair of jeans which we would prefer over and over......haina???? It seems as if every inch of these garments has been designed for our body. That old pair of tattered footwear having that shape and depressions of our feet is uh-so-purrfect!! ....

Cellphone....... my MOTO C-168, no bluetooth, no camera, no speaker but still so likable... Is it that perfect grip it offers to my fingers, is it the speed with which i make sms over it, is it the small effort that i need to take to press the keys or is it the exact location it finds in my pocket.............!!!

Each day my mom calls me at the same time, almost to a precision of a second, after my dinner. Then while talking to her i would go for a walk and am investigated with those standard ‘mummy questions’, that too in the same order, about what i had in dinner, am i having milk, blanket, quilt.........moreover, answers to these standard questions have always remained the same during past four years but still this small bit of daily chat with her has become an essential part of my daily routine.

Don’t we feel so unusual when we press electric switch of our friends room. Is it because that particular CLICK of our own switch located in our room is missing.........????

Fact is, whatever we do , routine permeates it all, there may be no logic, no rationale, but we do it because we do it, thats the way it is..........

That particular number of times our cellphone needs to snooze before it actually wakes us up, those exact number of twists and turns which we take before finally leaving the bed, that particular flow for which we open the tap, those exact movements which we give to our toothbrush, that particular road that we walk every morning for the lectures, that particular sliding of drawer of our study table, that smooth rotation of our key in our lock, that flow of our fingers on our keyboard, that particular CLICK of our mouse, that sound of doorbell, those crack lines seen in the ceiling each night while we lay on bed, that exact number of blinks our tubelight takes to start, that way in which we grip our old water bottle and our lips reach out for its mouth, those sunrays and their particular location in our room during sunrise and sunset, that fold of quilt at the end of our leg to ensure complete warmth, those exclusive nicknames by which our friends address us, that particular size of our nails, that optimum length of hair, that thickness and diameter of chapatti prepared by mom, the size of those steps running down our hostel building, those echoes of our voice in hostel corridors, that special area in mirror where we feel we are looking the best, those particular eyes which we catch each day, that particular time at night when we start feeling sleepy, that ‘HELLO’ which we can identify irrespective of which number it is coming from and that knock on the door for which we don’t have to ask ‘KAUN HAI’...!!

Friends ....again a part of routine...whether you are happy, sad, busy, free...they are there.....when you feel lonely, when you need company, when you need support....... same old friends come to your mind and you start searching your phonebook.............
